!Xairu Culture Connect

One of the most intriguing and unique courses on the Swellendam Winter School is !Xairu Culture Connect.

(!Xairu = Place called Paradise) It is being run by Donovan Julius who established the Zinc Gallery, where he lives, creates his work and dares to dream! Recently Donovan’s work featured in a group exhibition “Indigenous” in Cape Town – and while he was setting up there, the exciting news came through that he has been invited to England to work with students and exhibit his work there.

This amazing Winter School course is a journey of art and culture with Donovan, Khoi elder David November and field guide Rose Hay. Participants will join Donovan as he delivers his Art classes to Primary School children in a project funded by the Light of Africa Foundation, create recycled art, visit the Suurbraak Furniture Makers Cooperative, meet community elders, participate in a collective landscape art project, walk in the mountains, eat delicious traditional food around the fire and more, much more.

To sign up for this course, go to the Winter School websitew https://winterschool.co.za/course/xairu-culture-connect/– you will find Donovans course listed under Fine Arts.
This course will run twice  18-20 June and 16-18 July  and is sure to be very popular, so book up now while the early bird special is running (10% discount if you book and pay before May 31st)
