Intuitive designing and making jewellery of kelp.
During this course you will prepare kelp, shells and other items one can find on a beach and enjoy the process of designing with textures, colors and forms. You also learn to bend loops and earrings from wire. This is a relaxing and enjoyable course where we all learn and explore wonderful possibilities. At the end of the day you leave with your own unique design. Maybe a personal gift for a friend?
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR
This is an introductory course. It is for anyone with an open mind who likes to explore the endless possibilities with kelp etc. from the beach and transform the pieces into a little sculpture or jewellery. In a sustainable way you will participate in the process of designing, connecting different materials, and playing with textures, colors and forms.

Yvonne de Wit studied Fine Art in the Netherlands and has lived in South Africa since 2000. Inspired by the Overberg mountains she collects stones and minerals which , in combination with sterling silver and copper, she transforms into jewellery. It is her expression of our delicate relationship with the earth. She also uses recycling metals in a sustainable second jewellery collection. She is involved in a pilot project from the UWC giving workshops to women from fishers communities along the coast.
- All materials will be provided. However, please bring any treasures from the beach and a note book with pen and a fun Attitude.
The day will begin with an introduction to this creative and enjoyable art form.
This will be followed with selecting the colours and forms, preparing the materials and creating and making your unique piece which you will take home.
Yvonne will guide you every step of the way and share her creativity, expertise and experience with you.
