About The Instructor

While I was studying art, part time, a friend told me that a friend was looking for a housemate. Low and behold, she was the Head of the Art Department at the Cape College. For 4 years we painted and created some amazing work in many types of media. It was the shortest 4 years of my life. It ignited my passion and led me to following an art and craft career which ultimately led me to establishing my own business in Swellendam.

Artist Epoxy Resin in combination with Alcohol Ink, Glow in the Dark Pigment and PearEx powder is the ‘new’ craze in the Art and Craft World. Please YouTube the possibilities to get an idea of the jaw-dropping beautifulResin world. For the workshop that I am offering, I will introduce the working of the Artist Resin interacting with Alcohol ink on a glazed tile.

Before we start our Resin and Ink workshop, we will first bring our Wow’s!! and put our jaws back into place, by learning about the wonders of the Alcohol Inks. For this we will be using a Yupo paper.

When we introduce you to the Alcohol Ink on the tile, you will have a bit of knowledge of the working of the Alcohol Ink.

With a bit of 91% Rubbing Alcohol, awfully sorry, but not drinkable, we will spread our wings with the ink with the use of a Pipette as our dripper.

Tea/coffee break

The last step of this process is mixing and pouring the resin. The resin has to cure overnight and will be able to be transported the next day. To fully set, it will need 48 hours

.Lunch time

Decorating a tile with a Porcelain Pen

Draw a picture with a permanent fine liner marker. Clean the tile with Rubbing Alcohol, leaving a very light outline of the drawing.

Following the light drawing on the tile, with the Porcelain Pen, you will make your own personalised tile.

These pens can also be used to decorate mugs, plates, tea pots and some pottery.

Porcelain pens are very versatile and you can work 1 pen in 3 different effects: dark, medium and light
